An aside: AltJapan reports on Tanemaru, a mascot character created to commemorate the arrival of Commodore Perry in Yokohama - "the world's most cuddly cheerleader for the concept of gunboat diplomacy". Anything goes in mascot creation as well as in manga, apparently.

Cross-posted to Fanfic Forensics. Online store J-List is offering English and French translations of dojinshi by Linda Project (link definitely not safe for work), a circle famous for erotic works featuring, among others, characters from Bleach and Street Fighter.
