Concentrating on anime in the UK, McCarthy has published both general

manga. He is credited with being the main promotor of 'mangagaku'

Ueno Toshiya specialises in media studies and has published

Yonezawa, Yoshihiro (米沢嘉博)
A famous manga critic and driving force behind Comiket, Japan's
largest dojinshi (amateur manga) convention. Yonezawa Yoshihiro has
published a large number of articles and books on various aspects of
manga, particularly manga history. He passed away in October 2006.
