Non-licensed Evangelion erotic game slammed by copyright holders
A few weeks ago, we wondered if Evangelion's rights holders would display any tolerance towards this commercial (erotic) game featuring Eva-based characters (link not work-safe). The answer is no: Akiba Blog has a new article saying that the first day of sales was postponed indefinitely because Eva's rights holders had contacted shops stocking the game, and presumably also the company who produced the game. The rights holders made themselves heard on the 5th, and the postponement notice went out on the 6th -just one day before the planned release.
A commercial enterprise trying to make money off copyrighted characters is obviously thought to be in a different league than dojinshi-making fans, who might make a few bucks but generate invaluable free publicity for a company. No great surprise there, but I'm surprised that they'd even try to market something so blatantly illegal. Someone must have believed they could get away with it.
