US Navy manga distributed, available online

Today, distribution began at Yokosuka Naval Base of the US Navy's manga about nuclear aircraft carrier George Washington. An English-language PDF of the manga is available here, Japanese here. The event was a success, with Japanese citizens forming a long line to receive their free copy.

New filesharer arrests spark concerns about fansubs

Still catching up. Canned Dogs mentions that the three filesharers arrested in Japan on May 9th were some of the most high-profile providers of anime on peer-to-peer networks, and voices concern that other Japanese users will not dare to upload any more anime. The comments section highlights a consequence probably not envisioned by the Japanese police: non-Japanese fansubbers are in danger of losing their main source of raw anime to translate.

US Navy manga does not address prime concerns about new Yokosuka carrier

In order to smoothen the upcoming arrival of nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington in Yokosuka, the US Navy has commissioned two Japanese artists to create a manga about the ship.
